The Brighouse and Rastrick Band is celebrated worldwide for its thrilling concert performances and remarkable record in the fiercely competitive brass band scene. With countless major championship victories to its name, B&R has earned its place as one of the world’s finest brass bands.
Among its many triumphs, a stand-out moment came in 1998, when the Band achieved an unprecedented “Triple Championship”, winning the English Masters, British National, and European titles in the same year. This extraordinary feat remains unmatched.
To the wider public, B&R is perhaps best known for its 1977 hit recording of The Floral Dance. The song became a phenomenon, earning Silver and Gold Discs, selling hundreds of thousands of copies, and remaining a much-loved favourite with audiences across the globe.
Deeply rooted in its community, the Band is proud of its Brighouse heritage. Rehearsing in its own purpose-built headquarters near the town centre, it enjoys the affection of local residents; a connection symbolised by the dedicated roundabout at the heart of the town.
Formed in 1881, the Band has remained fiercely independent for over 140 years. No other brass band of its kind has sustained such excellence for so long. Today, the Brighouse and Rastrick Band stands as the world’s number one public subscription band, combining heritage, innovation, and an enduring passion for brass music.
