May 24 is an official holiday in Bulgaria when all students, teachers and those working in the field of education and culture celebrate the creation of the Slavonic alphabet, and is dedicated to the work of the two brothers St Cyril and St Methodius who created the Bulgarian letters. On this day, the youngest students also receive their first literacy certificate.
The students from The Bulgarian Sunday School in Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Telford will celebrate by singing, dancing and saying poems. They will put on a performance to show that even far from their homeland, they know, respect and keep our traditions and values. The Bulgarian children will present the beauty and power of the Bulgarian word and music."
